On this day, July 9th, 1953 a company called New York Airways began the first regularly scheduled helicopter passenger service in the world. Operating in a fashion similar to a bus line, the helicopters flew to sites such as La Guardia Airport, New York International Airport, Newark Airport, West 30th Street in Manhattan, White Plains, and Stamford periodically throughout the day.
