On this day, November 27th, 1924 the first Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade is held.
The parade is the second oldest Thanksgiving Parade in the country. The tradition started when Macy's employees, many of which were first generation immigrants, told of their celebrations with parades and festivals. The first parade included employees as well as professionals who marched from 125th street in Harlem to their flagship store on 34th Street.
