He owns Skribbles Auto Spa in QueensSkribble has also worked on MTV's The Grind, Total Request Live, Spring Break, Hip Hop Night and theMillennium Special Live. He has also worked with Wyclef Jean and Lauryn Hill. On this day, October 9th, 2001 Herbert Ross dies in NYC. He was born in Brooklyn. Some of his credits include choreographer for a musical adaptation of A Tree Grows in Brooklyn, he also worked with Barbara Streisand in Funny Girl. He also directed, The Owl and the Pussycat, Funny Lady, and the original Footloose and Steel Magnolias. The last film he directed was Boys on Side in 1995 starring Mary Louise Parker, Whoopi Goldberg and Drew Barrymore. On this day, October 8th, 1956, the New York Yankee's Don Larsen pitched the only perfect game in a World Series. It was one of only 20 perfect games in MLB history. On this day, October 7th, 1982, Cats opens on Broadway. The hit show ran for almost 18 years before closing. The last performance date was September 10th, 2000. On this day, October 5th, actor Jeff Conway was born Jeffrey Charles William Michael "Jeff" Conaway in New York City. He is best known for his roles in the movie, Grease and two televisions series, Taxi and Babylon 5. Conaway was also featured in the first and second season of the reality series, Celebrity Rehab with Dr. Drew. In May 2011 after spending two weeks in the hospital, Conaway died as a result of complications related to pneumonia and encephalopathy, a degenerative brain condition. He 60 was years old. On this day, October 4th, 1946, Susan Sarandon is born in New York City, she is one of nine children. Sarandon is an accomplished actress and activist. Although she has played many roles and won numerous awards, the film she is often times the most well known for is Thelma and Louise. Sarandon also has a long history of activism, she is a supporter of gay rights and in 1999 she was appointed UNICEF Goodwill Ambassador. On this day, October 3rd, 1951, the "Shot Heard 'Round the World" becomes one of the greatest moments in Major League Baseball History. The New York Giants' Bobby Thomson hit a game winning home run in the bottom of the ninth inning against the Brooklyn Dodgers. After being down 14 games, the New York Giants won the National League pennant. On this day, October 2nd, 1890, Groucho Marx is born in New York, New York. Named Julius Henry Marx, the third Marx brother was an influential comedian and actor. Throughout his career he and his siblings made thirteen films.
